Mesh - from the sports field to the catwalk

The material mesh actually originates from sports fashion, where it ensures permanent ventilation and faster evaporation during training. However, as part of the athleisure trend, mesh made the leap into the world of couture a few years ago and is now used in a wide variety of garments. Mesh dresses are made from a transparent single-colour or printed fabric with lots of small holes that give the look its see-through appearance. The fabric with the mesh pattern is made from synthetic fibres such as polyester or nylon, it is very thin and, unlike tulle, extremely soft and comfortable to wear. Due to their transparency, mesh dresses are often combined with additional layers or linings to cover certain areas of the body or to achieve a semi-transparent look.
