A sequined dress just can’t help it: it simply has to have all eyes on it. A woman in a dress like that will be the centre of attention, that’s for sure. But can you imagine anything better on this special day, than to shine like a diamond? No matter if you are going to a New Year’s Eve party, a graduation ball, a Christmas party, to the theatre or … well, anywhere a special outfit is called for – if you are wearing a sequined dress, all the styling problems are actually already solved. A sequined dress has the great advantage of shining and glittering itself, so you can take your mind off all the other accessories – jewellery, bags, tights – because they are meant to remain plain and simple anyway.
The best thing about
sequined dresses: they can be worn at any age. No matter if you are 14 or 40, sequined dresses make us all shine! The wonderful ones from the latest Ana Alcazar collection even more! Additionally, a sequined dress is – although many may not believe it – really figure-flattering. Why?
Sequins reflect light and thus they take everybody’s eyes from all the things that we might not be one hundred per cent happy with about our figures. However, we don’t want to look like a mirror ball, so here are some things we have to remember, when we are wearing a sequined dress.
As already said – accessories are only secondary with this outfit. Maybe this is not too much of a surprise; still we would like to mention it: If you wear a sequined dress, wear simple jewellery. If your dress is twinkling, jewellery has to step down. This means: a plain bangle or a simple bracelet, a pearl ear stud – that’s about it. (We advise you not to wear a necklace, as it is too close to the dress.) The jacket also has to take one step back. This outfit is dominated by the sequined dress; everything else is more than willing to stand in the second row. When it comes to the choice of different materials, we are actually free to wear almost everything (except sequins) with this dress, no matter if it’s playing the role of a New Year’s dress or of an outfit for any kind of festive occasion. We can combine this dress with a nice
faux fur jacket if we want to go to the opera. But with this style we can also wear a casual jeans jacket. That’s the way to end up wearing a “cool” outfit. There’s one thing to remember though: all the pieces should be single-coloured! Otherwise it might look like all over the place. The choice of shoes is easy: plain court shoes add this “je ne sais quoi” to our outfit without stealing the show.
The choice of the right bag goes in accordance with the colour of our shoes. Again the rule “less is more” applies. And when it comes to make up, please also be careful: Too many colours will spoil your outfit, ladies! Still – if your eye shadow reminds us a little of the colour of your sequined dress, you will get all thumbs up! So, what are you waiting for? On these pages we have gathered all of the different sequined styles by Ana Alcazar from size 8 to size 18.
