Especially in the early 2000’s, pullovers had vanished almost completely from the fashion designers’ collections. The pullover’s image was simply too unspectacular, too frumpy. This however has generally changed again in the last couple of years – just like with many other things in fashion, the pullover has lived through a revival for quite a while now. But a pullover is not the same as a sweatshirt. In contrast to sweatshirts that are made from smooth cotton and that are predominantly popular in sports and youth culture (a.k.a. hoodies), the pullover is a far more sophisticated and more versatile piece of clothing. A pullover is commonly “pulled over” the head; it is long-sleeved and it is made from wool or warm, wool-like fabrics. That’s why it is rather a piece to wear in the cooler seasons.
