Long before the paisley pattern appeared in European fashion, it was already a classic on high-quality Iranian carpets and Persian cashmere scarves in the Middle East. Paisley looks - a touch of the Orient

The paisley print had its first major fashion phase in the hippie movement of the 60s. The American free spirits felt strongly drawn to India and its peaceful philosophy and quickly discovered the Far Eastern pattern for themselves. The richly decorated print adorned flowing oversized dresses, lavishly trimmed with flounces and ruffles or A-line tunics in psychedelic colours. Today's paisley hype can basically be seen as a renaissance of this fashion episode, as the boho style is based precisely on it. However, the colours of today's paisley dresses are somewhat more restrained: earthy tones, berry colours and pastel shades dominate the paisley look of the 21st century.
