With which other colours can yellow be mixed?
The signal colour yellow can be perfectly combined with other colours. Whether motley colour blocking with other bright colours or discreetly with earth tones – this summer colour instantly gets you in a good mood.
► If you fancy different colours, you can combine yellow with its complementary colours violet, lavender or purple – this colour combination offers the highest contrast and therefore stands out the most. Colour blocking with different blue tones also works very well. The rule of thumb applies: the stronger the yellow, the darker the blue or violet may be.
► White is the classic among the yellow partners, because the combination of white and yellow is the summer pair per se: white and yellow remind us of summer, sun, and passion fruit ice cream with whipped cream, which also works very well from a fashion point of view. Here, it is best to focus on a radiant, pure white tone and to go for strong, warm yellow shades. Yellow in combination with off-white or cream tones, on the other hand, can quickly appear boring and dull.
► Moreover, all earth tones such as brown, ochre, cinnamon, or terracotta go very well with yellow and together are a great combination for autumn. Especially when it comes to broken yellow tones and ones with a warm undertone such as curry yellow, mustard yellow or brownish yellow, the combination of earth colours and yellow works perfectly.
► Grey and yellow were not only the colours of the year 2020, but are also real dream partners: neutral grey makes bright yellow really radiate, but at the same time, yellow looks far less dazzling and aggressive with grey. Especially in the context of business outfits, this colour combination is ideal.
► Black and yellow also go well together, but this colour combination also bears the risk of you looking like a wasp. Those who combine yellow and black should therefore pay attention to balancing the colours, perhaps by toning down the contrast a bit by using golden accessories.
► Yellow and green can also look great, but you need finesse for this. Warm and rather earthy or pastel shades of green such as olive or fir go very well with light yellow shades. However, the brighter the green tone, the more it "jars with" yellow.
