Jacquard - fabric with a history
Jacquard fabric was named after its inventor, the Frenchman Joseph-Marie Jacquard. In 1805, he developed a special loom that made it possible for the first time to generate complex patterns by machine. Today, all fabrics that are woven using the corresponding weaving technique are known as Jacquard fabrics. This also includes opulent textiles such as damask or brocade. The main feature of jacquard is its lavish pattern, which is woven directly into the fabric instead of being dyed or printed. Jacquard can be made from a wide variety of fibres, from cotton and silk to synthetic fabrics. The production process is complex, but the end product is very resistant and easy to care for.
